Case Study:

Watercourse Management – Internal Drainage Board

We have been undertaking regular work for the Romney Marsh Area Internal Drainage Board (RMAIDB)

The work involved:

  • Maintenance of the drainage courses
  • Undertaking “Brushing” which involves clearing the channel of weed/vegetation growth
  • Removing the vegetation to allow free drainage for the winter rains

Our excavators that were used are fitted with mechanical weed-cutting buckets and long reach arms. Weed cutting reduces the need for desilting the water course.

Our specialist long reach excavator, with weed cutting bucket, enabled us to reach even the deepest of drainage channels with ease, providing a safe and efficient drainage clearing service.

The maintenance work we undertook enables the drainage courses to hold water during dry spells as well as preventing flooding when it is wet.
