Screw Piling

Brief

FGS Pilcher was engaged to deliver enabling works, civils support, and site infrastructure for a nationally significant solar project on the North Kent Peninsula. Spanning over 800 acres, the scheme forms part of the UK’s commitment to clean, large-scale renewable energy.

The Challenge

The project required delivery within a sensitive coastal landscape, with strict ecological controls, variable ground conditions, and a demanding phased programme. Logistics also posed challenges due to the site’s rural location and scale.

Our Solution

FGS Pilcher provided a fully integrated service, combining environmental compliance, engineering expertise, and coordinated site support:

  • Land preparation, ecological protection, and temporary fencing
  • Welfare and compound setup, haul routes, and access planning
  • Ground investigations and engineered foundation solutions
  • Installation of Helicasol screw piles – low-impact, vibration-free, and ideal for sensitive soils
  • Mechanical install support and logistics across multiple zones

Outcome

  • All works completed to programme
  • Zero environmental non-conformances
  • Stable, sustainable foundations with minimal surface disturbance
  • Seamless support for one of the UK’s largest solar projects

Conclusion

This project highlights FGS Pilcher’s capability to deliver complex renewable energy infrastructure safely, responsibly, and efficiently.
