Case Study

Trenching for Utilities (Electricity & Water)

Client: Gusbourne Vineyard

Background

Many of FGS Pilcher’s vineyard clients are located in some of the most picturesque parts of Kent, making them ideal settings for alfresco dining, drinking, and large outdoor events. The award-winning Gusbourne Vineyard is no exception, boasting outstanding outdoor facilities and far-reaching views across the Romney Marsh.

To further enhance the visitor experience, Gusbourne planned a new outdoor facility requiring permanent electricity and water connections.

The Challenge

The vineyard needed new utility infrastructure installed with minimal disruption to the surrounding landscape. Cost efficiency and protecting the appearance of the site were key priorities, particularly given the visibility of the works within a premium visitor environment.

The Solution

Gusbourne appointed FGS Pilcher to install both electricity and water services. Using our Mastenbroek 10/12 mini trencher, the team completed the installation in a fraction of the time required by traditional excavation methods. The compact, wide-tracked machine allowed precise trenching while keeping surface disturbance to an absolute minimum.

The Outcome

The new services were installed efficiently, cost-effectively, and with the ground left in near-perfect condition. Gusborne’s new outdoor facility is now fully serviced and ready to support alfresco dining and events, while preserving the vineyard’s natural beauty and visitor appeal.
