FGS Pilcher are currently undertaking a large project for the RSPB at the Seasalter Levels in Whitstable, Kent. We are restoring a large part of the wetland area within the levels. Over the past few years, the levels have been dry especially during the spring when they should be wet.
The grant funded project is part of the Climate Change Resilience Project to restore habitats and boost biodiversity. Using our specialist equipment we have been creating bunds, rills and scrapes as well as de-silting and re-shaping existing waterways around the site. The new features we’ve created are designed to capture water within the levels and to maximise feeding and breeding spaces for wildlife.
