Case Study

Civils work involved working In Partnership with Countrystyle Recycling Ltd for Buckinghamshire County Council at High Heavens Waste Complex

Following a fire within the bulky waste bay in 2019, it was recognised that the existing facilities at the site were inadequate. With the assistance of Countrystyle, Buckinghamshire Council required a standalone storage facility to meet EA guidance they have set out.

The works that were undertaken included

  • Putting together a Structural Engineer design capable of supporting the tanks with storage of 900 tonnes
  • The relocation of existing services so they can continue to be used while construction work is carried out.
  • Undertake the construction and installation of a steel reinforced concrete slab. This included the ground preparation to organising concrete then onto the finishing of it.

The new reinforced concrete slab will provide a strong safe base and reduce the risk of a fire starting and developing through the bays.
