Case Study

Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership & Natural England

We were tasked to work with Natural England at the Stodmarsh Nature reserve, an internationally important mixture of reed beds, fens, ditches, wet grassland and open water.

This project also involved working alongside the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership.

Working with Natural England at Stodmarsh, we undertook clearing and ditching work on the nature reserve creating habitats and maintain existing habitats.

Working with Kentish Stour Countryside we completed work to create or restore ponds for Great Crested Newts. These are a European protected species which need suitable habitats to survive. With Great Crested Newt numbers declining and a reduction in pond numbers it is important that new ponds are created, and existing ponds are restored, to give the species more habitats to breed and thrive.
